Site Audit

Sites, verification, and crawl setup

The Sites and setup workflow establishes which property Contextter may crawl and what evidence future runs are allowed to collect.

Bounded crawl

Keep property, authorization, run, and crawl coverage visible.

Traceable evidence

Move from summaries to rules, URLs, links, assets, and raw facts.

Comparable verification

Confirm fixes with another crawl using an equivalent scope.

Manage audited sites

Each Site Audit property belongs to a workspace and carries its own base URL, verification state, authorization mode, crawl settings, schedules, and run history. Select the exact host or subdomain boundary intended for the audit.

  • Do not reuse one property for materially different hosts.
  • Archive only after confirming which schedules and history belong to it.
  • Respect organization property limits and ownership.

Confirm site and run context

The top scope controls all run-scoped views. The selected site determines the property; the selected run determines the saved crawl evidence. Starting a new crawl does not rewrite an older run.

Verify authorization

Verification proves control through the supported challenge flow before full crawling. Quick checks use a restricted authorization mode and must not be treated as equivalent to a verified full crawl.

  • Follow the exact challenge instructions.
  • Keep verification tokens private where applicable.
  • Recheck the host and protocol if verification fails.
  • Do not infer authorization from client-side UI alone.

Define the crawl boundary

SettingDecision
Base URLWhere discovery starts and which host boundary applies.
Maximum URLsThe upper evidence and cost/operation boundary.
Authorization modeWhether full verified crawling or restricted checking applies.
Scope rulesWhich internal URLs, redirects, resources, and subdomains are eligible.

Start a crawl deliberately

1
Confirm the selected property.
2
Review verification and limits.
3
Check whether another run is active.
4
Choose full crawl or quick check according to authorization.
5
Monitor early progress and errors before relying on results.
