Read Authority and core domain metrics without merging their sources
Different source modules
Different units
Different clocks
Read the headline band as several sourced instruments
The first band places Authority, estimated organic traffic, organic ranking keywords, estimated traffic value, backlinks, and referring domains beside one another for orientation. They are not ingredients in a Crawl Foundry score. The organic values come from the rank-overview module, Authority and link totals come from the backlink-summary module, and the visible trends come from monthly history.
In a Domain profile these modules can point to different successful runs. A recent rankings source does not make an older last-known backlink source equally fresh. Open the source notice when it appears and carry the relevant module date into the comparison.
Authority is a transformed provider backlink rank
The stored backlink rank uses the provider's 0 to 1,000 range. Crawl Foundry clamps it to that valid range, divides it by ten, and displays one decimal on a familiar 0 to 100 ring. The transform preserves ordering and relative distance from the provider value; it does not make the number equivalent to another vendor's authority metric.
- Authority is region-independent because it comes from the backlink graph, not the selected search market.
- It is not a Google metric, a disclosed ranking factor, or a probability of ranking.
- A value of zero is a measured provider value; a dash means the rank is absent.
- Use it for like-for-like comparison with the same source and definition, then inspect referring domains, anchors, targets, relevance, placement, and live status.
Organic traffic is estimated monthly visits
The headline reads the organic ETV field from the rank-overview source and rounds it to whole visits before compact display. It models monthly click volume from the provider's observed rankings and demand assumptions. It is not a count from the site's analytics property.
Use ETV to compare the modelled scale of domains or direction within the same market. Brand demand, SERP features, click behaviour, seasonality, provider coverage, ranking depth, and model updates can move it without an equivalent change in Analytics sessions. Verify a material conclusion with first-party traffic and query evidence.
Organic keywords measure observed ranking breadth
The count is the provider's total organic SERPs in which the domain appears for the selected country and language. It is broader than the stored top-500 or top-1,000 keyword ledger: the headline aggregate can describe more rankings than the detailed rows retained for inspection.
A larger count says nothing by itself about position, demand, intent, landing-page fit, traffic contribution, or business value. Use the position distribution and detailed Rankings tab to see whether growth sits in the top results, near page one, or mainly in low positions.
Keep provider movement counters separate from the headline total
When present, the micro-line below Organic Keywords shows the provider's current counts for new, improved, declined, and lost organic rankings. Crawl Foundry does not derive those four values by comparing two stored snapshots. Missing all four counters hides the line; individual missing counters display as zero only inside a movement set that otherwise exists.
New plus improved and declined plus lost are not guaranteed to reconcile to the total keyword count. They describe movement classifications in the provider result, while the headline is the current observed footprint. Open the ranking rows and history before describing the cause or business effect of churn.
Traffic Value is a monthly paid-click equivalent in provider USD
Estimated Traffic Value displays the organic segment's estimated paid traffic cost with a dollar sign and a per-month label. It asks what comparable modelled organic clicks might cost in paid search under the provider's CPC inputs. Crawl Foundry does not convert this headline to EUR.
The value is not revenue, profit, pipeline, conversion value, media budget saved, or SEO ROI. A few high-CPC terms can dominate it, and paid click value can differ sharply by market and intent. Inspect contributing keywords, CPC, positions, and estimated traffic before using it as a commercial-demand signal.
Read backlinks, follow split, referring domains, and main domains together
Backlinks is the provider's total observed link count. The small split below it uses available follow and nofollow counts; it appears only when their sum is above zero. Referring Domains counts distinct observed source domains. Main Domains further reduces subdomain duplication when that field is available.
These totals can have different denominators and do not prove quality. One sitewide source can create many links, several subdomains can belong to one organization, and follow or nofollow is an attribute rather than an automatic good or bad label. Continue into the Backlinks tab for source authority distribution, anchor patterns, target pages, platform and location evidence, and matching Site Audit target health.
Preserve unknown, measured zero, and compact display
| Presentation | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Dash | The relevant field is absent or no valid trend can be calculated; it is not a measured zero. |
| 0 | The provider or calculation returned a valid zero for that field and scope. |
| Compact value | Large numbers are abbreviated and visits are rounded for display; use detailed evidence when exact values matter. |
| No percentage | There are fewer than two usable history points, all points are zero, or the previous month is zero so a percentage base is undefined. |
| No follow split | Follow plus nofollow is zero or absent; this does not prove that the entire backlink total has no attributes. |
Deltas and sparklines come from provider monthly history
The delta beside organic traffic, organic keywords, or Traffic Value compares the latest two values in the monthly history series. The sparkline uses the chronological tail of that same series, with a default display budget of twelve points. It is not a current-snapshot-versus-previous-snapshot calculation.
The large headline number comes from the current rank-overview source, while the delta comes from the history source. The newest history month can precede the run and can differ from the current headline value. If the previous month is zero, Crawl Foundry omits the percentage rather than dividing by zero. Fewer than two points or an all-zero series removes both delta and sparkline.
Use metric combinations to form questions, not verdicts
| Observed combination | Investigation to open |
|---|---|
| Keywords rise, traffic stays flat | Check whether new rankings have low positions, demand, or click potential. |
| Traffic rises, keyword count stays flat | Find important positions or demand estimates that changed and verify first-party traffic. |
| Traffic Value rises faster than traffic | Inspect whether a small set of high-CPC commercial terms now carries more estimated clicks. |
| Backlinks rise, referring domains stay flat | Look for repeated or sitewide links from existing sources. |
| Authority stays flat while domains rise | Review source strength, recency, relevance, and whether the provider rank has moved enough to display. |
| Headline rises while history delta falls | Check the different source dates; current aggregate and latest provider month are not the same clock. |
